Chemical safety under debate
SANA'A, July 14 (Saba)- The Shura Council on Monday began its 7th round
of meetings under its chairman Abdul-Azeez Abdul-Ghani
The Shura discussed chemical safety as the central topic of the meeting
The chairman of the Shura Council stressed the importance of chemical
safety on economic and social levels He said that the no-organized use of the chemical substances is blamed
for contaminating air, food and water, subsequently threatening life in
general The meeting listened to findings about chemical safety presented by the
Public Health and Population Committee in the council The paper explains that chemical safety depends on the strict enforcement
of a set of measures that deal with chemical hazards resulting from fertilizers
and pesticides
It suggests official cooperation with the concerned international organizations
in pinpointing the imported foods, beverages and pesticides that often
contain hazardous chemical ingredients It also proposes the formation of a national committee for chemical safety
and the encouragement of investment in field of fighting pollution and
the preparation of legislatures for protecting water and other sensitive
resources
